Summer Intensive Programme (VIP)

(Click on the titles to see the pics!)

On the 26th July, Summer VIP began. We have students come to our school for one month, for a special intensive course. This programme is different than a regular month because normally we have different students every week. VIP is nice because you get to know the students better. A lot of fun things happen in VIP. We have the students divided into houses and they compete to win a prize. My house is called, ‘Africa; Hungry Hippo.' David's house is called, 'Europe; Eureka.' We also have fields trips, clubs, (I'm in gardening club) talent shows and general fun activities. David and I are working the weekend shift for VIP. This means we work 8 hours on Thursdays and Fridays and 12 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. We are off Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Three day weekends....nice!

Mud Festival

We finally got to return to Boryeong Mud Festival. David and I went to Boryeong Mud Festival in 2008. The first time we were in Korea. David had been in Korea for only one month and I had been in Korea for four months. The first time we went was special because it was CRAZY! Everything in Korea was extremely new to us and we didn't really have a clue what was going on. When coming back to Korea for our second year David and I had decided that we must go to the festival once again. I am so glad we did. This time we went in our car and camped near the beach.

Four Day Weekend

For our four day weekend David and I spent it at Boryeong and Han Tan. We left for Boryeong extremely early on Sunday. Sunday and Monday was spent at Boryeong Mud festival and exploring the beaches. On Monday evening we headed to Han Tan camping resort. Here David and I stayed for Tuesday and Wednesday. We celebrated David's birthday and explored the 2nd Infiltration Tunnel. We also went swimming and went on a bike ride.

July 4th BBQ

So it's the 4th July. Some extremely nice people from EV (thank you edutainers!) organised a BBQ gathering. It was a lovely evening. Everybody from all departments showed up. All of the staff at EV haven't had a get together for a long while. It was nice to spend time with the not so new people and to meet the new, new people. Thank you Americans!

Forgotten Paju

Even though we live in Paju, we always forget to explore it. There are so many cool attractions I can't believe we nearly missed them! Recently we have been to Ubi Park, a Temple with two huge standing Buddha’s, an extremely large Palace, a Botanical garden and a 400 year old pagoda.

Summer time is officially here!

The summer is here and I am sooooooo excited! I have been waiting to go to an outdoor swimming pool since last year. Seoul has many outdoor swimming pools. There are seven along Han River. The disappointing thing is that they are only full for two months. As soon as they got filled I was there. David and I went to Mangwon swimming pool one weekend and Yeoido swimming pool the next weekend. It was lovely. It really did feel like we were on our holidays. The only strange thing was is that every hour everybody had to get out of the swimming pools for ten minutes. Annoying but it made time to grab some food and sunbathe.

DVD Bang

I love DVD bang/rooms. They are the perfect place to spend your day if it's raining, to hot and sunny or when you just can't be bothered doing much!

Military Week

Now and again we teach the Korean Military for one week. I really enjoy this as they are always extremely eager to learn English. They love to play sports and have general chit-chat. It's nice to teach adults now and again. They are always laid back and enjoy having fun. They like to dance and be silly especially when there is a stage and food is at stack!

Boat ride along Han River

David and I finally found time to take a boat tour on Han River. It was a lovely day. The sun was maybe shinning a bit to much but I shouldn't complain about that.
