On Wednesday after work David and I popped into Geumcheon. We decided to go to a cafe called Can More. We have been meaning to go to it for a while. It was really cute. There were chairs hanging from the sealing that rocked! Everything in the place was frilly, pretty and really colourful. The food was amazing too.

Donuts Donuts Donuts

Korea LOVE donuts. They have donuts shops everywhere. My favourite is Dunkin' Donuts and Mister Donuts. They are delicious!

Yellow-throated marten

On our way home through a restricted area David and I came across a strange creature that jumped into the middle of the road. It looked like a cross between a cat and a monkey! We didn't know what to call it! When we were home we searched on the interent and dicovered it was a yellow-throated marten. I didn't even know this cute animal existed.

Four Day Weekend :)

At the end of VIP David and I got a four day weekend because of the shift change. Both of us were extremely happy about this! We decided to go to Gangwon-do. David and I spent most of our time in Naksan. We have been there once before with my Mum but it was slightly out of season and the weather was getting colder.This time the weather was scorching. It was lovely. After arriving in Naksan on Friday night we headed straight to the beach. Even though it was late evening the beach was chocker block!

Saturday morning was spent at the beach. In the afternoon we visited a Temple and went on a bike ride. In the evening David and I went to Daepo Harbour and after that we went into the city if Sokcho. I have decided that Gangwon-do is my favorite province in Korea! The beaches have nice sand. They have little stones and no mud! The sea is gorgeous because there is always a high tide and the water is clear and has many cute fish that like to nibble your toes. I particularly like Naksan because it has a beautiful temple and funky fish markets that sell delicious fried prawns. Of course not forgetting Seoraksan mountain and the natural hot springs. I could go on and on!

Anyways, on Sunday after breakfast David and I headed to a ceramic museum. Here we made pottery. We both made a bowl. David’s is much nicer! We will not be able to see our finished product until a month. This is because our bowls haven't been fired yet. When they have been they will be posted to us. I hope they make it. After our craft day we went back to the beach for a few hours. In the evening we headed back to Daepo harbor and ate at a restaurant. Then we went into the city for more junk shop exploring.

On Monday after breakfast we headed straight to the beach. David and I bought Jeju ladies goggles. These were a lot of fun and very stylish! Even thought there was a storm we still had a good swim. After our swim in the ocean it was time to stay good bye. We headed towards Yanggu to stay near the 4th tunnel.

We went through a few funky towns, Inje, Hae-an, Yanggu. The scenery was stunning. Another reason why I love Gangwon-do. After checking into our Hotel we went to an Island then into town for dinner.

Tuesday we headed straight to the DMZ. I think I enjoyed visiting the 4th tunnel the most. This is because all of the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. In general I felt the most comfortable here.

After the DMZ David and I headed back to the town of Yanggu and mooched around the shops and ate dinner. On our way back we went to Lake Paro, which was breath taking. After this we went through a restricted area and came across 15-20 tanks. This was an interesting surprise.

Kimchi Pots

I have finally bought some Kimchi pots. Kimchi pots are used to store, that's right Kimchi! I am not going to store Kimchi in my pots of course. I bought them as they hold sentimental value and I think they are pretty.

Teacher Talent Show

On Sunday we had a Teacher Talent Show at work. I and a few other girls decided to enter ourselves. We performed a dance to a Korean song called 'Magic'. We practiced for a few weeks and I thought I had the dance moves covered but I chocked on the night and slipped up a few times! Oh well, I had so much fun doing it. Even though it was nerve racking it was worth it!

A day at work

Bye bye stuff...

Our time in Korea is coming to an end and it's time to pack up and leave. I am not looking forward to doing the final packing.We have started to sell a few items and I am sad to see them go. Cute red bicycle has gone, as well as the motorbike, the tent is no longer with us and we should be selling the car in a few weeks. I hate moving!

Final Weeks

Last week David and I had a one day weekend...boooooooooo! But we have a four day weekend soon, so it's okay! On this day we completed numerous jobs that we have been meaning to do for a while. All the boring stuff we have to do before we leave :( David and I also went to Musan, a little town close by. We went to home plus (Tesco) and mooched around some local shops and markets . I bought lots of cute Korean stationary crap. Such as comics, cartoon stickers, stamps, geisha greeting cards, key-rings, robot hooks etc. Like I said general useless crap (pretty crap!) Nothing about the day was particularly special but I began to realise how much I will miss Korea and it's random quirkiness. Seven weeks left!!!!

Shopping districts of Seoul

I love shopping in Seoul. These are just some of the shopping districts...Itaewon, Myeong-dong, Shinchon, Ewha, Hongik, Insadong, Jongak, Apgujeong, Hapjeong, Dongdaemun, Namdaemun, Samcheong-dong and Bukcheon-dong. They are a mouth full!
